Corporate biggies set for showdown

The recent plunge in the Sensex may be driving the corporate biggies to despair alright, but for the who’s who in the Bangalore corporate circle, it may be the drive from the first tee - and the drive to the course as well – at the Eagleton Golf Resort on Saturday that may be occupying their minds.

They will discuss share prices and the state of the economy for sure, but that may be only during desert. The main course, of course, will be on the course itself – walking the fairways and greens, playing the 18 holes and playing it well. For, The Economic Times Leaders Challenge Golf tournament, after its inaugural season last year, has become one of the most sought-after corporate events in the country. As such, post Diwali, you can expect some sparks to fly when the biggies parade their skills at the picturesque Eagleton course on Saturday. In all, 84 golfers are in the fray in the event to be played in a three quarter stableford format in two handicap categories (0-14 and 15 & above). The winners (in each category) and a team of two – to be picked randomly – in the first leg of the five – city event will qualify for the grand finale at the Bintan Lagoon Resort in Singapore next February. The subsequent legs will be held in Delhi (December 13), Kolkata (December 20), Chennai (January 10) and Mumbai (February 7). The Economic Times Leaders Challenge is presented by the DS Group in association with Chevrolet Captiva. It is also supported by Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore Airlines, Color Plus, ITC Windsor, United Sprits Ltd. and Kingfisher.
