DS Group to tap food pressing market in North East

Dharampal Satyapal Limited (DS Group) has ventured into food processing sector in the North East with an investment of Rs. 2 crore. The first food production unit in the brand name of Catch will be made operational in Guwahati from July next.
“This is our new venture into the region and we have lined up more projects to explore the market”, PK Gupta, executive director of DS Group, said at a press conference. In this context, he said that North East is a potential area for food processing sector and hence DS is willing to tap the market.
‘Catch’ spice has already made its strong presence in the market across the country and the new unit will generate additional employment in the State. ‘The new unit initially produce ‘Jaljeera’ and gradually expand to other products.
Replying to a question on potential of food processing sector in the region, Gupta informed that DS is keen to expand its wings to other parts in the North East to explore the food processing market. ”Raw materials are available in the region for which we are keen to set up more projects. But, to carry forward our plans we need active support from the respective governments”, he said.
Gupta further informed that DS is exploring market in tourism sector in the region. “Tourism market in the North East is enormous and we are studying the market for future investments”, he added. DS Group has already made its foot hold in foreign market in different field, It has consolidated position in the field of FMCG, packaging, hospitality, rubber, education and manufacturing.
