Jagran English, New Delhi, 08 March, 2017

Pulse was launched by DS Group in mid-2015 to capitalise on the hard-boiled candy segment.

We bet Pulse, priced at Re 1, must have found a place at your office work desk. And now, the popular raw mango flavoured candy is beating MNCs as it registered Rs 300 crore in sales last month, a report in The Economic Times read.

Pulse was launched by DS Group, manufacturers of Rajanigandha pan masala, in mid-2015, to capitalise on the fastest growing hard-boiled candy segment in the confectionery basket.

The candy’s popularity has grown manifold in the past 2 years. The sweet candy category is estimated at Rs 6,600 crore and is growing at 12-14 per cent year-on-year. Pulse’s competitors include Parle’s Mango Bite and Perfetti Van Melle’s Alpenliebe, and a few local brands.

"Pulse is a highly scalable brand and it has resonated exceptionally well with consumers. The brand has huge potential," The Economic Times quoted DS Group senior vice-president (new product development) Shashank Surana as saying.

"DS is starting to sell Pulse in stores in Singapore, the UK and the US, and may also consider patenting its formulation."
