DS Group launches Pass Pass Pulse in city

Expanding its confectionery portfolio, Dharampal Satyapal (D S) Group, today launched Pass Pass Pulse in the city. Talking to newsmen after the launch, DS Group Vice President, New Product Development Shashank Surana said that the distribution of 'Pulse' started from Hyderabad and it would be extended to across the South India in the coming months. Mr Shashank said Pass Pass Pulse has received a phenomenal response from North India like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi and among others places. It also got tremendous response to the test marketing under taken in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the last new months. According to AC Neilsen, Hyderabad ranks number two as a consumer city for hard boiled candy and South India contributes around 26 per cent (Second after North) in the candy sale in this segment, he added. He said The hard boiled candy market in India is currently estimated at Rs 1800 crores and is the largest sub-segment of the Non gum no chocolate (NGNC) category . It is growing at the rate of 9 per cent, there for we saw a great opportunity in this segment. We are confident of carving a niche with Pulse, in the fragmented HBC market. In the future we plan to launch many more exciting & innovative flavors in the candy segment for the customers. D S Group Senior Vice President, Corporate Communi cations and Public Relations Ms Bhavna Sood, said that the company turnover about Rs 220 crore in confectionary segment. The newly launched Pass Pass Pulse already been touched Rs 50 crore mark. She said the manufacturing of Pulse was currently outsourced to manufacturers in Hyderabad, Rudrapur in Uttarakhad and Ahmedabad and Jamnagar in Gujarat. Two more manufacturing units (probably in North would be contracted in the near future to be able to meet the high demand of the product, Mr Bhavan added.
