Dharampal Premchand commenced the operations of its first state-of-the-art Steel plant at Agartala. The Rs.250 crore plant has the capacity of 1, 50,000 tons per annum and is spread over 24 acres of land with the total covered area of the 24,000 Sq.Meters.
This hi –tech gas based plant is environment friendly and machineries used for production are fully automated with digital computerized control to reduce the power consumption.
The project has not only created primary employment for more than 1,300 people, but also secondary & tertiary employment in allied and support industry. DPPC’s steel plant will also help to tap the unexplored business potential of the northeastern region and adjacent countries.
The unit manufactures Cold Rolled Sheets, Galvanized Corrugated/Plain Sheets, and Cold Rolled Closed Annealed (CRCA) Sheets. The Galvanized sheets are the primary roofing material used for houses in the North East. The market is oriented towards very thin sheets, and the project has been designed to cater to the special needs of this region. These Galvanized steel sheets have many uses roofing and construction work, industry, agriculture and outdoors. The CRCA sheets produced here are used for production of Almirahs, Panels, Grain Storage Bins/Silos, Barrels etc. It is the largest Private Sector project in Tripura, and has been set-up primarily to cater to the North East market.
